Lifeguards
Under the direction of the Aquatic Supervisor, Lifeguards will:
- ensure the overall safety of patrons using the facilities
- minimize and eliminate hazardous conditions in all areas
- treatment of injuries
- maintain cleanliness of the pool and change rooms
- be responsible for pool entrance including admission standards, money handling and record keeping
Requirements
- current NLS certification
- current First Aid and CPR "C" certifications
- High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development certification (considered an asset)
- clear Police Vulnerable Sector Screening check
Anticipated contract dates: June - September 2022
Wage: $15.75
Lifeguard/ Instructors
Under the direction of the Aquatic Supervisor, Instructors will:
- develop safe and quality programs and lesson plans for swimming instruction for patrons of all abilities
- lead group swimming lessons for patrons of all ages and abilities levels
- evaluate participants' performance
- maintain accurate records of performance and attendance
- communicate with participants and parents/guardians on participant progress
Requirements
- current NLS certification
- current Swim Instructor certification (LSS)
- current Lifesaving Instruction certification considered an asset (LSS)
- current First Aid and CPR "C" certifications
- High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development certification (considered an asset)
- clear Police Vulnerable Sector Screening check

Aquafit Instructor
The City of Thorold's Department of Community Services is looking for energetic, highly motivated, organized and responsible instructors to join our aquatics team for the summer of 2022.
Reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquafit Instructor will deliver aqua fitness classes while providing a fun, safe and engaging experience to our program participants. This position will plan, organize and instruct classes for all ages and abilities while creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for participants.
Preferred candidates will have significant experience in the delivery of Aquafit classes, understand the principles of water and possess the ability to instruct safe classes for all levels and abilities of participants.
Candidates will have an Aquafitness Certification (CALA - Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance, WaterArt or equivalent) or Can-Fit-Pro Instructor certification, as well as, current First Aid, AED and CPR level "C" certification. Successful candidates will be required to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check upon hiring and prior to their first day of work.
Anticipated contract dates: July - September 2022
Wage: $25-$30/hr dependent upon experience
